Diversity and Women in Canada: Lifting the Veil on Women and Islam
Arifa Ghaffar, OCT, a teacher librarian, initiated the school’s first-ever Black History Month projects and two highly successful annual Diversity Days featuring music and art, with rotational workshops for the students in such topics as body image, Islamophobia, the Aboriginal medicine wheel and the World of the Deaf.
Arifa Ghaffar will be speaking about an overview of Islam and myths about status of women in Islam, her experiences here in Canada since arriving from Pakistan 16 years ago and the need for better, more diverse role models for our young girls today.
This month we celebrate our International BPW Sisters around the world.
